Here To Grow | Reassurance To Myself

Originally written November 22, 2019

I read a quote somewhere that reads, “Psychology says, always go with the choice that scares you the most, because that’s the one that’s going to help you grow.”

In a bout of homesickness after being “accidently” pushed down on the stairs coming out of the T line, it dawned on me that I could be doing exactly the same thing I am doing in Boston back home in D.C. I could be working the same retail job from the comfort of my own hometown, with my mother and sister nearby. That is not why I moved to Boston!

I moved to get a job, become an adult, and start making money!

I moved to have an adventure and explore a new city, which I definitely have been. But I have been slacking on the job front as we have been over before. I have been unmotivated and scared. But now I am ready(ish) and it is time to take action!

Even though sometimes I feel like I am aimlessly floating through life and don’t have a clear direction, I know I moved for a reason. I am really proud of myself for making this move. It’s hard to move somewhere and not know what you’re doing, but here I am doing it, learning and growing. And even if that’s all that comes from moving to Boston, I am okay with that, because I did it, and I have already grown and learned so much by stepping outside of my comfort zone. And that’s what life is about.
